What would the max wot rpm of a 110 v4 evinrude crossflow be ? i have it on a 19 ft center console, using a 13x15 aluminum prop getting abot 5600 rpms now. with 2 adults on board, is this rpm too low or is it acceptable. the motor is mounted on an old manual jack plate, i have the anticaviation plate even with the bottom of the boat! Thanks for the replys!

Thats borderline acceptable for longevity. We'd like to see it up a couple hundred with your average load. While keeping an eye on the water pressure try raising the motor a tad on the plate. That should improve the overall performance. You might not be able to go very high since its an aluminum prop but it'll give you an idea of how it responds on that hull.

Frankly I'm a bit surprised that you have to run a 15 to get the r's. It must be a pretty heavy boat and/or a deep V.

Dhadley, do respect your opion, what do you feel, the highest rpm i coud run, the boat is a 1986, 19ft angler, i ahve a 13x13 stainless which would bring up to maybe 6000 rpm, but i told that prop is no goo for that engine, maybe tach not accurate anymore? Thanks for your reply!

What brand tach is it? If its an OMC tach it should be set on position 6.

Re: Max wot rpm

The tach was reading 5800 all the while when i had the 13x 15 aluminun prop on it. the motor was mounted below the caviation plate! i rasied the motor last year to make it even that is when the tach gave me diffrent readings, i do not know what brand tach, but i am sure it is on right setting, the boat came with a blown 115 omc on it, i took my 110 and mounted it on the boat, all hook ups were the same! the 110 was rebuilt 3 years ago new pistons and block was bored out, the motor runs good, just wandering why the rpm is low?

OK! Now that sounds more like it.

First thing -- lets get the rpm verified with a good known tach. Any dealer can hook up a shop tach and verify the r's real quick and easy. Obviously it might be a good idea to get a new BRP (Evin/John) tach. Treat yourself, you deserve the best. And if you dont have one, a water pressure gauge.

If it was turning 5800 and you raised the motor we can bet that its turning more now. thats good. If we verify the r's we'll know what prop to go to.

Re: Max wot rpm

Dhadley, ok took the boat out today, motor was running bad, also tach was working on and off, pulled into dock, ans went over wire connections, found the main neg battery wire loose on engine block, tighten it good, also found broken plug wire, result on damn hood snagged wire and broke it, took the boat out motor ran very good, now tach reads 5900 rpm with a 13x 15 aluminum prop, guess that the neg wire being on the loose side caused this? only thing the volts started out at 10 volts on the dash gage, but went up to 12 volts still seems a little low, had battery check out it is ok!

Re: Max wot rpm

It all sounds normal. I'd be real tempted to test with a ss 17 and see if you could get a bit more performance. But everything sounds like you got it whipped now.
