I have a 1994 maxum 17 ft bowrider boat. I recently had to repair a couple gouges in my hull with some marine tex and ive applied it and sanded it down. I would like to paint over the repairs with as close to the color of my hull as i can. The marine tex is way whiter than my hull. I went to the maxum website and it is looking like the color is either a dream white or a mica. It looks almost like an antique white wall paint to me when i look at the boat hull color. I just need some help in figuring out what the name of the color i am looking for is. I would also like to know what the cheapest paint brand i could buy and where to buy it form to use.

Re: Maxum 17' paint problem

More than likely if you are the only owner of the boat, you do not have paint on it but instead have gelcoat. You can buy gel-coat fix-a-kits. The kits have several different color pigments in them that you can add to get the color you want. You could also try and match the color of your boat with one of the topside paints such as interlux or petit, but a quart will run you around $30 dollars. Pictures would help.

Its Dream white.

Spectrum sells the gel and should be a perfect match.

Its not Low VOC gel..so your cat is going to be 1.5 % MEKP.

YD.

PS. they sell the patch kit..or a qt is about 70 bucks..

Re: Maxum 17' paint problem

Thanks for the replys guys. I think im going to call spectrum and see if i can get a gel that is matched to the stock color. The more i looked at the boat last night while sanding the more it looks almost either a light beige or light greyish. Im blessed with many things but color blindness is one of my weaknesses. I deff know its not a white color though. Im the 3rd owner of the boat so i don't know if it has been painted or not. ill try to take some pics soon to post up. thanks a lot
