Hello,

I have a 1994 maxum 17 ft bowrider boat. I recently had to repair a couple gouges in my hull with some marine tex and ive applied it and sanded it down. I would like to paint over the repairs with as close to the color of my hull as i can. The marine tex is way whiter than my hull. I went to the maxum website and it is looking like the color is either a dream white or a mica. It looks almost like an antique white wall paint to me when i look at the boat hull color. I just need some help in figuring out what the name of the color i am looking for is. I would also like to know what the cheapest paint brand i could buy and where to buy it form to use.

thanks

Howdy.

You're gonna have a hard time matching the original color to your 25 year old gelcoat.

Cheap paint and boats don't work together.

I have an old boat too. I went with paint vs. gelcoat for any number of reasons.
I sent a sample and had a color match by Kirbys paint.
Also used wog paint formula. Relatively inexpensive compared to whats out their.
The match is perfect and happy with the ease of applying and the cost. Used roll and tip method.
Check this link on my thread. Anyway pg 99

for small gouges, get the gel coat matching kit, mix the colors as needed, then touch up.

however matching a color on a 5 year old is hard, on a 20 year old boat is impossible unless you re-gel the whole thing.
