I know Brunswick boats owned both Bayliner and Maxum, till the discontinued the Maxum line, though I am curious about what all differences these two boats had. I spoke to a coworker of mine that has a Bayliner of the same year 18.5 BR compared to my 19ft Maxum Cuddy. The seats look the same and the Helm look the same with similar gauges and placement. My question is the hull design very similar? I know on my Maxum it has a "Max-track" hull it has a little step in the hull, I didn't see this on any of the new Bayliner 19 Cuddy. My boat also have a fiberglass cockpit liner w/ snap in carpet and a box beam water proof stringer system. I am wondering how much different these boats are other than name.

Thanks,

Re: Maxum and Bayliners

I understood the Maxum to be an "upscale Bayliner"...whatever that means. That was from a local used boat dealer's mouth.

Re: Maxum and Bayliners

after going to both factories and seeing them in various stages of construction...owning both...I can probably answer this one...
the where bayliner will use say plastic cup holders....maxum will use aluminum or stainless....the switches are probably a bit upper scaled...the port lights on a bayliner is plastic while the maxum was stainless....I do know the sides of the hull was almost an inch thick where the bayliner is about 3/4"
.but overall it's the same hull...same windows...same running gear.(ie engines/drives)...at the time maxum was a competitor to bayliner....the Brunswick purchased the maxum line ...since maxum was so close to bayliners....they opted to discontinue the line...bayliner overlapped and maxum pretty much stole shares from bayliner...they were both comparilly priced....so...why have 2 of the same model...it was strictly a business decision....and then the boat bottom fell out.....
I had the 2700scr...an awesome boat ....sometimes I miss it and I know the wife does...but we got such a deal on a 340 that we couldn't pass it up...

on a side note that step is only there for asthetics....according to the chief engineer...it's just there to be pretty....
I thought it was to assist in releasing the vacuum as the boat comes up on step.....nope...just a pretty hull mark...
