Back in the good old days, when boats were wired with lamp cord, I saw a bass boat catch fire, burn down to the water line, and sink. The circuit to the front trolling motor shorted out, or was just too light, and the wires burned through the rubber fuel line that was laid along with it in the gunwale. All the 2 men could do was dive off and swim away.

I had bass boats in my yard for circuit breaker and rewiring all summer that year.
