Maytag dishwasher problem

The unit fills, empties just fine.... but when it's wash cycle time the water barely pumps out of the holes on the propeller inside, not even enough to rotate them.

It's gotta be the recycling of the water.... but I don't know where to go from there. How do I get to it, what is the "it" I should go in and get :)

How do you remove this propeller to remove the cover underneath it?

Try this first. Let the dishwasher fill and then go into its cleaning mode. Once it is full of water try adding another gallon and close the door and see if that helps. The problem may be you are not getting enough water.

I am glad you got it working KRS.

Those models are not too bad to work on. The whole center unit comes out with the screws around the outside. Only gets bad if your metal tub is rusty around the bottom seal.

I know what you mean.

My trouble was in getting the spray arm off so that I could take off the cover in the bottom. But... if you fiddle long enough it's easier to figure stuff out.

Aahh, Maytag....

Ours would fill and empty properly....but when it is in the wash mode.... it pees all over the floor.

Called out service.... My unit has a hard plastic hose that goes from the pump to the top spray arm and it has two holes near the pump motor. Besides peeing on the floor, it was shorting out the motor. The mechanic will be back on Tuesday with the parts. Seems they never had to replace this particular part before.

Poor wife, washing dishes by hand.

She hasn't asked me to dry them yet, so I'm keeping my distance from the kitchen.
