I have a 1979 arrow glass cheetah with a mercruiser 165 straight 6 engine. The outdrive looks to be a Mc1 model. Im confused on what water pump base I need. The one I pulled off dosent seem to match the top piece as the hole where the water should come through doesnt match up completely. The boat has ran fine with it this way but while Im replacing the base may as well get it right. Also is the thick oring supposed to go inside the top half of the pump on the shaft or rest on top? The second picture is the bottom of the base showing the two halves mated and the water holes not matching.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Looks alright to me,..... Water can flow 'round corners, 'n it's a flooded entry pump anyways,......

I believe the MC-1 only came with 2 possible bases, one with a flush screw, 'n one without such,.....

No O ring in the cavity between the cup and the housing (I read your picture captions). An 'oil slinger' (your 'thick O ring') does go down and rest on the top of the housing.
