I need to replace the steering on my bass boat, and a friend just replaced his with hydraulic (I would love to do that too but don't have the money).
He pulled the "old" steering system out and said "Here, if you can use it it's your's. I measured my boat (center of steeing wheel, around the hull to the center of the motor and come up with 10 foot 5 inches, rounded up gives me 11' system.
I don't know where exactly to measure the steering system my friend gave me. When I lay it on the boat is appears to be less than a foot "oversized" so I think it's the right one. It measures 11' from the center of the steering column to the start of the threaded portion of the motor connection. Does it sound like I got lucky enough to get the right one???
Thanks,
Bob
