I have a 2004 F60 four stroke that ingested water from the fuel tank, my mechanic who is a Mercury dealer cleaned out all 4 carbs and got it running decent but the high speed jets aren't flowing properly, at mid-throttle the power fluctuates and the top end lost some umph.

He said once you do a thorough carb cleaning and this happens then there's nothing you can do about it. Sounds like BS to me, can't you just replace the jets completely?

Yamaha dealer said there's nothing wrong with it but I've put 200 hours on this engine and trust me there's something wrong!

If the carbs were properly cleaned, the problem may be a different restriction such as a filter or fuel pumps. Replacing the jets is unlikey to fix the problem.

did he check for a vacuum or vaporizing in your fuel system?
also check for fuel presure of the fuel pump. at wot. and mid range.
if the carbs are undamaged and clean they should be fine.
i agree with ray changing jets doesnt sound to me you found the problem.

make shure there are no other problems.
do a leak down test to see if the valves are sealing.
just to make shure.

I already brought it back to my mechanic and he couldn't make it any better, so I'll bring it to the dealer this time... so I should just ask them to check vacuum pressure, fuel pump pressure, and do a leakdown?

Thanks guys!

no, ask them to properly diagnose your motor, a cylinder leakdown test takes all of 15 min on a bad day, the rest is a bit tougher, usually after water injestion the idle air mixture plugs and screw need to be removed, without the proper manometer you will NEVER get the carbs in sync again.
