Penecillin - people used to die from that - no joke. You better get your self to the Doc ASAP or find some moldy bread somewhere.

Goldenseal Root is basically a low dose, natural antibiotic. Can be purchased at any vitamin/drug store. I've used it for sinus infections, works good. It may work on the jaw? However if it doesn't start to get better quickly I'd get to a doctor!

Re: Medical Help

Oil of Cloves placed around the infected area will stop all the pain and discomfort. Use some cotton wool or a small hygenic cotton swab and place against the gum or tooth or tongue.
Salt rinses will keep the infection at bay - just half a teaspoon in an egg cup of warm water and swill about, then rinse out.
Brush your teeth double the normal times. Remember the body can suffer greatly from any infection fromthe mouth area. Hygeine is the key to combatting anything infected in there.
Ross

No joke, back in the old days tooth infection spreading to the jaw killed a lot of people each year. You need penicillin - probably a big shot and then 10 days of pill form treatment. Don't wait - if you can't get to a dentist go to an emergency room at a hospital or any local doc.

The quickest is Penicilin. The infection could go into your jaw and cause some real problems. I do remember my Mom used to make us put cloves from her spice rack on the area as long as we could stand it to relieve tooth pain.

Re: Medical Help

Pen V is the answer. 500mg Penicillin G tablets 2xday for 5 days. the pharmacist might let you have them OTC, if he knows you, just tell him your problem. The dentist would call it in for you if you know him....and make an appointment;otherwise the pain gets worse, ps leave the orajel at walmart.

Re: Medical Help

SBN take care of that. Your dentist or doctor should be able to give you a perscription for an anti-biotic.

As some have said, this is serious. Not only does the infection start poisoning you, but it will actually eat away at the bones in your mandible. It is not as bad as a maxillary infection which can spread further and to more critical areas of your face and head. It will leave holes in your bones if not treated promptly.

I have seen what infections can do to your mandible and maxilla and other areas of your face and sinuses. I have a degree in Anthropolgy and have handled a lot of bones with pathologies like this. Obviously, those people were not around to get anti-biotics anymore.

Anti boitics for sure.

In the mean time, brush with VINCE dentifrice, fancy name for tooth powder. after rincing, put some on effected teeth and leave it there. I works for minor infections, and can't hurt.

Re: Medical Help

amoxicillin 250mg po qid. hows that! im a pharmacy tech student, no pharmacist can give you anything without a prescription, buddy you better see a dentist. if you "know" a dentist he can call a prescription in without seeing you. you are right, a dentist wont fix anything until the infection is gone. do the right thing! brushing with a home concoction of baking soda & peroxide may help

jimmy bo bob; you wanna translate all that in english?

Re: Medical Help

SBN,

I know your pains. The one in your mouth :( and the one that will be coming from your wallet to pay the dentist  . Before my dentures, I use to chew on a asprin to help releive the pain, drawback to that was that the asprin helped destroy the tooth even more (but the pain subsided).......SS
