Well, we kicked the Taliban out partly because of laws like that, but the new government hasn't gotten the laws changed yet.

Can't do everything at once, but this is one that needs changing NOW.

I thought that they had a new constitution since the Taliban were kicked out.
These are uncivilized intollerant slimeballs, thats what they are.
They don't deserve one red cent from the American tax-payer, it ought to an act of treason to aid these sicko's

Guess you guys have never lived in a Muslim country.

There the religious police can raid your house if they believe you are violating any religious laws.

FYI, strick Muslims are very intolerant.

Not too different from the Pilgrims from a while back.

Lets all hope they realize this oppression isn't acceptable, just as our ancestors did.

Ken

I thought we kicked out the Taliban to put an end to state sanctioned terrorist training camps & to set up a puppet government that was U.S. friendly. Does their constitution guarantee freedom of religion?.....JK

It should guarantee freedom and equal rights to all, regardless of gender or religion.
We ought not to be funding regimes of this nature.
For cryin out loud, we have all sort of santions on various countries with better behavior.

I as a Christian, think we should all go out and burn some cars or something. Maybe kill someone. I am sure we will all be given a pass just like the recent actions of some members of the muslim community.

I'm not a man of religious convictions, my knowledge of such matters is limited, my anger is derived from a perspective of what is right and what is wrong.
We have been pouring our lives and money into that forsaken part of this planet for over four years now, in hindsight, it is my contention that this endeavor may indeed have been a total waste of our valuable resources.

Why aren't we in places like Samolia? They have no government, a fifteen year civil war, and a famin that is threatening the lives of two million people. Food aid is being pirated by land and sea.

Oh ya. That part of the world has no oil. Silly me for thinking we should give a rats a$$ for people just because they are people.

yea! and how much oil does Afganistan have?
Yammering on that same old debunked tune a thousand times over ain't never gonna make it a fact.
The truth is we tried to help Somalia, the general public in Somalia did not want us there, they made that very very clear.

There are many failed countries across the globe, why should we always be the ones to try and fix their problems ?
Where are the other developed countries ?
Or how about the Russians, French and Chinese they're the ones that sold those idiots all sorts of guns and munitions, Why don't they fix the problem which they helped to create?

good thing the US never ever ever sells arms and ammo to corrupt regimes and dictatorships, unless of couse they have cpooer, oil or maybe mangoes and bananas.
its not the first puppet govt we installed that bit us, you would think by now we would know how to install a puppet or leave it be,
your somali oil argument holds no water, the afghanies have no oil either. however or proposed afghan bases just happen to follow the pipeline our current president and his busness pardners laid out in 96-97 and the russians fought so hard for.
as far as the US leaving somalia cause we were not wanted I dont recall any Iraqi nor afghany invites either.
just as the current Hamas issue, it all democratic, they were elected and that election was not even stolen nor contested. just as the afghan one.
goes back to the saying, careful what you wish for you may actually get it.
elmer either needs to check his history facts or his math, four years is a tad off the mark.

Re: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

Two points on this:

1) We also were not in Vietnam, Korea, Grenada or anywhere else that I can think of for economic plunder. We have no modern history of invasion for resource grabbing. Even if we were there for oil, there is a huge difference between maintaining access to a resource and stealing it.

2) Why is it required that the USA is 100% consistent with regard to humanitarian aide or military action? Should the fact that we cannot help everyone everywhere for every reason automatically result in being nowhere?

elmer, we had troops and weapons as well as billions in arms sales in afghanistan for 20 years, you can call them advisors, observers. aid to freedom fighters or whatever is PC today. it was still US military forces and US taxpayer funding with US built and supplied weapons and training. no matter the PC language used to describe it.
a breif history of the russian/afgham war and the US role in it may assist. I know its a lot of reading but it will explain how we got to where we are and why.
