Melted piston #2 -with picture

Melted piston #2 on my force 70HP single carb engine. Any idea what could have happened? The engine was rebuilt last year and has only ran 32 hours sice then...

This happened again?More info is needed.What year/only one carb?Possibly something in the reeds.Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Last time I had a broken ring, the piston was not melted then. It's a 1992 70HP with one carb. I already checked the reeds but they look okay to me. Beside the reeds is there anything else what can case one piston to melt on a single carb engine?

If it's the same piston.Then the unit is possibly sucking air.The reeds are blocked,the head isin't cooling correctly.Jerry
