Memory lapse: Do screws also go behind the cap trim?

Since I took the cap off my boat over two years ago, and have had it temporarily reinstalled with several screws through the cap into the hull just to squeeze the two pieces together while the sealer cured, I have forgotten if there were also screws behind the aluminum trim piece around the cap, or if it was just held together with the screws that were along the trim piece itself.

Do screws also go behind the aluminum trim rail, or just the screws that go through the trim rail, under the rubber trim insert?

mine had a few under it in random spots but the ones holding teh rail on were what was holding it together, i put it back the same way but with washered pop rivets instead of sheet metal screws. the more the better I would think..

Ok, yeah I think that may have been how mine was put together, I just couldn't remember for sure. I guess a few screws must have been used to hold the two halves together before the railing was installed. I think I'll go back with that method too... thanks!
