Merc 115 lower Unit gear selection Propbelm

Hello all: I have reinstalled my 1979 Merc 115 LU and had to reinstall the select cam; with shift in forward the prop turns flywheel in both directions; in reverse the prop turns the flywheel only counter clockwise; clicks when turning clockwise. Beofre installing I had manually tuned the shift shaft all the way to the clockwise place when I could not turn it any more and shifter was in neutral. Then after installing the LU; I tried placing in reverse and the prop again turned crankshaft counter closckwise and slips other way, but when shifted into forward it turns engine both ways, is this ok?
