Since replacement of my 80' 115 is cost prohibitive, I have to rebuild. I have the manual, tools, time (since it is broke), a few dollars and mechanical knowledge, everything but boat motors. LU is still good, power trim shot. Serial Number 5674934

I have found a hole in the case just below the top carb which tells me that I threw a rod, or two. Compression tests show nothing in cyl 2, 3 but over 130 in cyl 4, 5. cyl 1, 6 unreachable as the power head is still mounted. Engine will still turn freely. My questions are.
1) Cost of a new/used crankcase cover?
2) Cost of a new/used crank?
3) Cost of a used block?
4) Motors that would be interchangeable?
5) Average resonable price for a powerhead (only) straight out of a boat, never rebuilt but running as well as can be expected.
6) Advice from anyone on the process, short of running away.

Thank-You,
Paully

That motor is history.......You would want to get a matching case and cover which is big money. The other parts you need are big money too......In my opinion, you should be able to find another used running motor for a whole lot cheaper. In the dallas area, I have seen those straight six 115 go for around $1000 - $1200 in good running condition. You might want to search around for a motor with minor problems such as ignition or carbs. If your case was good, you would still be looking at $1000 to fix everything else. Try searching this board or search on Ebay. I think you will come out a whole lot cheaper buying a used good running motor. Good Luck...........

Agreed. And if you stick to the same model you'll have a bunch of spares....
