Merc 115hp 6 inline what age and rpm

The serial no is 5316032 and its a straight 6 cylinder what age is it or where can i find out.Also what rpm should it be doing at the moment i am getting 5200rpm.

Hello:<br /><br />Here is the information you requested<br /><br />115 5168574 - 5600966 1979 6 cyl inline <br /><br />I hope this helps. Rpm's should be between 500 - 5500 I believe. But I have a mechanic that told me that these motors will go up to 6000 without a problem.<br /><br />Craig

I'm pretty sure mercury recommends 5000-6000.
