I'm new to this forum and any advice is greatly appreciated.
I have a 2000 125 Mercury outboard that has 2 bad cylinders/low compression. My mechanic, whom I trust, has presented me with 2 options. He will rebuild the entire block for $3600 including machine work and tax and a 90 day warranty or he will install a OEM Merc remanufactured block for $4300 tax included and a 1 year mercury warranty. Your probably thinking this is a no brainer, pay the extra 700 and the 1 year warranty is the way to go, but I was planning on upgrading my GPS/Fish finder so the extra 700 would kill that plan.
