Hi all

So we bought a new boat for our bass fishing, finally retired our little 14' boat and 15HP Yammie.

The new boat is a 17' fiberglass bass boat made here in South Africa. Dry weight is 300kg 661lb, with kit, motor, fuel, batteries etc. I am guessing 1400lb. She is powered by a 2006 Merc 125HP classic 2s. Prop is a 25P four blade Trophy plus.

Motor has approx 77 hours on the clock and the plugs look to be original (black paint on plugs).

We went on our second trip yesterday (first trip was at altitude). At WOT and trimmed at 1/4 on the gauge we were flying and the speed was well off the speedo. WOT RPM was 5400. The motor was absolutely humming!

Questions: What is the correct WOT for these motors? Would hate to over-rev

Best trim position? We are new to big motor boating.

Tips and general advice to be safe on the water.

Thanks in advance guys

Dennis;

What is the engine s/n? If you are sure it is a 2006,

From 1A-3 of the service manual, WOT is 4750 – 5250

If you do not have the service manual or the operators manual, see my message to you in Notifications at the top of this page.

Dennis;

Yes, that is a 2006, made in Belgium engine. The other pertinent info you have by previous PMs.
