My 80s vintage Mercruiser 140 has a choke
at the top of the carb which looks like its driven electrically. It has a black mechanism
on the fore side about the size of half a tennis ball with a push on wire running into the harness.
This seems to go to a microswitch in the linkage
below. I lost the manual in a house fire so I'm
not sure how its supposed to operate. Also
the other end of the choke shaft goes to a
cam that seems to be hit by a throttle screw at
minimum throttle but not at anything above idle.
The cam seems to have no real function except
adding a liitle friction to the choke, unless
this whole arrangement is installed wrong.
Thanks in advance
