I just bought a new 150 Merc EFI outboard and worry the pee hole takes 20 seconds to start streaming after cranking. When flushing with rabbit ears it takes even longer so I have gone to using the hose connect with the engine off. The dealer says quit worrying and based on the prior posts here this may be normal (at speed the pump puts out 10psi) but can the experts offer me any advice? Maybe a ghost hunter....

Re: Merc 150 Cooling Question

My 135 V-6 takes a little while to spit water. The way it is routed, most of the pee hole water comes off the thermostats. To get to the top of the engine you have to first fill the entire block. I would guess it takes a gallon of water or more to fill the center of the block. Had my powerhead off a few weeks ago and was amazed at how much water the block holds.
