Loup, They are compatable. I have a 1973 85HP and a 1977 150HP, and they use the same stator, same distributor (except cap and the disk with the spark timing windows) and share switchboxes. The coils and rectifiers are different, however. They also share lower units (except different gear ratios) wiring harnesses, midsections, top and bottom cowling, carbs (not carb jets) and many other components.
