You Might get it Out.......
But,
You'll Need to pull the Drive to Reinstall the engine, Anyway.......
It's Only 8 nuts to Remove.... Go ahead and Pull it Now,+ Get it Out of your way.........

Bondo is right on. Don't waist your time fighting around it when it has to be done sooner or later anyway.

What make boat is it? I have a '78 Grady White Gulfsream with a Mercruiser 165 IL6. I also removed the engine for a rebuild. I would definetly recommend removing the outdrive prior to removing the engine. Like the other guys said: you'll have to remove it anyway when you reinstall, and it will be easier to remove without the outdrive in the way.

Remove the outdrive first no doubt. I also had a hellava time with the aft engine mount bolts...couldn't get a wrench on the nut underneath. Post how you do on those. Mine is a 1969 fiberform 23' cuddy 165 gm straight six...and I've got a nightmare gimbal bearing story if anyone is having a problem with theirs. Could save your boat!
