Hello,

I need some help. I'm trying to take off my lower unit on my Merc 200 20h.p. motor. The manual said to remove the screw holding shift shaft coupler to the shift shaft actuator rod. Then sidde the coupler off the rod. I can't find the "coupler" I have followed the Forward gear shift shaft over to the rod that goes down to the lower unit, but do NOT see any way, or screw, holding that rod to the shift shaft. Please help

Thanks in advance for all the help !!

Ed.

EWALDEN, On MY 35 HP 1978 MERC.The coupling is half way down the shift rod and there is no screw.
the shaft has a spline end and the coupling also is splined.one end slips into the other, like a male/female connection ! That is if your shift rod rotates when you shift from forward to reverse. bill
