Hello,

My engine all of a sudden starting doing this beeping thing. All of a sudden it will start this long continious beep, and the only way to make it stop is to put the throttle in neutral and just wait a minute or so.

Someone mentioned that I may need to change the impella (did I spell that correctly).

Is it an overheating warning?

Thanks

ps. the engine is a 94.

Re: Merc. 200 Beeping

So what do you think causes this? I run in sea water and don't flush the engine that often with fresh water.

I was in really rough seas (6-8 foot swells) on Tuesday and it would happen like every 7-10 minutes.

Thanks

Re: Merc. 200 Beeping

What causes it is your engine getting hotter than it should, possible causing damage to your cylinders and definitely your impellar.
Perhaps your engine was coming out of water and sucking air. Do you have a nice continuous stream of water coming out the tell tale?

-andy

I did have a continuous stream of water (I think), but it was a really rough day so the engine was coming out of the water with each passing wave...

Could a damaged impellar have something to do with it, I was told you should change this part on te engine every season.

thanks.

Change the impeller and if you think the engine got hot it won't hurt to change the thermostats also

Re: Merc. 200 Beeping

Is changing the impeller something I can do on my own, or do I need a mechanic to deal with that?

How much is a new impeller?

Thanks
