merc 200hp changed parts ran but now quit no power to plugs and cant find some things

hi i got this 200hp engine had several things needed and and that were melted

i replaced teh 2 switch boxes and the recfiter it did have the voltage regulator on it but it was melted and i dunno where the wires go since there is no wire digram for it, and it has this extra box on top of engine that wasnt hooked up i guess its idle control or what not but it isnt in the parts list on iboats diagrams but it is on other sites for wiring diagrams so i lost

cuz i ididnt have the voltage regulator on there i dunno why u need that cuz i guess the rectifer does same job?

i got engine running on ears i tried and let run 10 min or so a few times so knew it was working i put it in the water it tried to start but wouldnt so battery died i take it home and put ears back on and charger to try and now it dont fire i dont even get voltage to the spark plugs anymore was using a clamp meter to check for the wires

like i spent a grand on the 3 parts 2 switch boxes at 300 a piece and the rectifier hopefuly there is warrenty on new parts

so does anyone have any idea what went wrong what could be wrong? i got this engine that was over heated cuz the voltage regulator was melted right out and so was rectifier and the temperature prob

is the 1985 200v max engine for iboats list is under v200 and the model is the last one on the list
so any input be great and wiring digram be great too i hope its fixable and that the swtich boxes not blown and i wanna know can i test voltage from stator coil to see if its sending power

To avoid losing another $1000,spend $60 and get the Mercury Service Manual for your model.
If those switch boxs weren't hooked up or grounded properly they could be toast.
You will also need a DVA to test stator properly.

oh they were hooked up properly and grounded right cuz they were exactly as the other i just hooked one wire at a time and grounded the screw wire

like it was running fine and then i shut off and tried a few more times then had it taken to river and i wanted to fire but it couldnt and i brought home and wouldnt spark

ya here the book i think about 120 bucks

like i had the marine tell me it needed 2 switch boxes recifier and temperature sender but they didnt talk about the melted voltage regulator or the iguess its the low/high spark advance module whatever that is

so i take it no warrenty on new electronics?

and where u get a special multi meter from then to check stator? what would cause the switch boxes to burn out ??
and here is link for iboats for my boat electrical and shows regulator but doesnt show idle low high spark advance module

so i let engine rest and this morning it started up fine what would been wrong?
and which engine is it for a proper wire digram? do i need a voltage regulator or do i need this high low spark advance module

the 2 links show 2 different things for the same engine does anyone have a diagram for this engine

is a merc V200 200hp Black Max and sieral number starts with A1

See what i can find.Dont think your model had a regulator,just rectifier.

ya see i not sure on ********** for v200 and the last model for it the serial numbers selection it does it has a voltage regulator and on my engine it has one on the top of the engine melted right out but person before me unhooked the wires so not sure where they go

now that merc wiring digram i posted it doesnt show a voltage regulator but it does show 2 packs one is a combo high low advance and other isnt what i have also is one but the wires are colored green white and red so not sure which one that is and if i need that too? and what would have caused it to over heat and on this engine does it only spray water out the little hole? and has 3 exhausts 2 just below the spray water line and then other in the prop?
