Merc 200hp hard start

I just bought a boat with a early 80's 200hp merc. The prior owner said prime three times and try it and it takes three trys. Well I got it in the water and it popped for a couple seconds and I primed three more times she just turns over and battery went dead so I took it home and charged and she just turns over. Question??? Flooded or not enough gas. Got spark alot of it. Any Ideas.....?

Try a known good battery, like from your car maybe.

Oh I have juice she turns over fast just no firing. I just don't want to over flood it if it is already flooded my budy said the plugs are wet but i heard on these motors takes alot of juice to get them running
