I have a 1970 Mercury 20hp. It had a bad stator when I aquired it. The infamous phasemaker ignition system. I replaced it with a new CDI Electronics replacement stator (174-3996). I also installed new points & insulators, new upper and lower crank seals, rebuilt the carb & fuel pump. The motor has 110lbs compression on both cyls. Inspected the reed cage and all looked good. It throws a half inch spark on my tester with ease. Timing light says 35 degrees BTDC at WOT. Problem is it won't fire a lick even spraying fuel mix thru carb throat or pouring thru spark plug holes. It acts like the timing is off??? What am I missing?????
