my 2002 merc. 225x has 50 hrs on it and it has developed a problem where about half of the time it is dropping 1 or 2 cyl. it will not plane off unless i have my passenger lay on the deck then it finally planes and will turn about 6,000 rpm then occasionaly it will be firing on all 6 cyl. and planes off with no help and turns about 6900 rpm. i can feel it cutting in and out sometimes. i have changed the plugs and checked all of the wires and connectors?? it appears that it is one of the sensors or the ecu. where can i purchase a ddt tester and the software for my engine at a wholesale price??? anyone found any similar problems on any other 225x's???

What are you doing here, instead of speaking with that rigging dealer or Merc?Throttle cable adjustment is crucial on these engines and poorly adjusted cable can cause wacky idle caracteristics.6900 is way out of line .Surging and poor transition could well be poor fuel delivery. My first suspiction would be an extraordinarily bad rig.
