Hello I just recently purchased a searay express cruiser 225 it has a Merc 228 v8 in it its been sitting well the tag on it last time it was in the water is from 07 got it home couldn't get it to fire try to force a Lil fuel some the carb it would run for a min or 2. Then I replaced the fuel/water separator and filled the separator with fresh fuel ran great for about 5-6 mins then it started pooring white smoke out of the exhaust and the rpms slowly went down on its own and died. The gas gauge shows its full so could it possibly be really old fuel and have water in the fuel if so I'm looking at 75 gal of 5 yr old fuel or would u lean towards a cracked block or head. The motor sounds good when its running no noises and the oil is super clean nice and gold no milkyness what so ever I'm stuck.....

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Run it on a remote tank, 'n see....

I'd guess you've got 75 gallons of toxic waste....

Hopefully it didn't trash up the carb...

What do the sparkplugs look like,..??

Any water in the cylinders,..??

Wowie, fuel from 2007?!? Start pumpin all that crap out! It definetly won't run on that. Also def check for water in the cylinders like bond-o mentioned. If there is your riser, manifold or both may be leaking. Check for water in the oil as well.

You may need to rebuild the carb as well with fuel that old just sitting in there. ....could be all varnished and gunked up
