Merc 25 HP - What year?

I am looking to purchase a 25 hp Mercury. I am not sure what year it is (owner has not found papers yet). The serial # is 6402432. The owner thinks it is mid 90's model. I looked on parts express site and it looks like a pre-1980 number to me. Anyone tell me what year it is?<br /><br />Thanks

1983 begins with s/n 6185159<br />1984 begins with s/n 6453343<br />Yours looks like 1983.<br />
