Hi guys,

I just bought an 84 merc 25xd that came with an 11 pitch prop. It'll be pushing a riveted 1542 (300lbs?) and typically carrying two people and gear (500lbs?)

Running it at 5000-8000', am I better off finding a 13 pitch?

That's what the Mercury prop selector comes up with......13 pitch; at 8000 ft elevation.

You lose 3% of power for each 1000 ft. So at 8000 You will be down about 24%
Roughly 5 hp. I would run it with the 11" and see how it does.
You should get a tach,Something like a Tinytach. Get the wot rpm and gps speed
lightly loaded.

Yeah, i agree. why not run the 11 pitch and see where it lands you? Aluminum props for that motor shouldnt cost very much, so if the 11 isnt ideal, you could get a 13p as well. Having a spare prop once you figure out which one runs better for you would be nice anyways.
