Hey guys,

I received my elephant ears and ran my Stingray (3.0 LX, 1993, 140hp) in my driveway.
I had some issues with my carb earlier but I never took the cover of while the motor was running.
I was wondering about the oily stuff on the manofold, but now I know what it was. I also had a gas smell in IDLE mode.

Here is what my question is about:

Fuel is dripping out of the carb ( mercruiser carb). I?m not able to see, where it is coming from, but it is all over the arrow areas.

Do you guys have a idea what it is, and what I could do to fix it?
How can I find out, if the carb will not switch of if the fuel raises to a sertain level inside the chamber?

Take it back and get it replaced. It's just that simple.
For it to leak there, the bowl is overfilling (faulty float, needle & seat or...... )
Take it back.

Actually, I swore I read you purchaced a rebuild carb from Merc, but guess I didn't.
The carb needs dissasembled, inspected, cleaned, and completely rebuilt.

I read your other post and this one. There has been no mention about the basics. you should do the following first and in this order.
1. check your compression.... a bad intake valve would make the carb appear to do all sorts of funky things that some people would think as a bad carb.
2. check your base timing... whenever you think you have a fuel problem you always need to check your timing first. It's always timing before fuel. Same as before..... incorrect timing will make a carb appear to do funky things.

Ayuh,.....

The Float Level is Off,.... The Needle,+ Seat is Bad,....

Get a Carb Rebuild Kit,+ Install it,.... That should Fix it.....

Re: Merc 3.0LX carb leaking

Ok, here is the update on it:

It was only a bad sealing were the gas line is coming in the carb. While erveything was dried of, I cranked it a few times and was able to see, where is was coming from.

That issue is fixed. Thanks to yall
