Just returned my boat to the water after a few weeks of routine maintance -
1. New plugs
2. Pull/Inspect/Replace Manifolds
3. New impeller/gear oil in Alpha Gen2 outdrive

On the trip from the ramp to my slip, I noticed that the RPM would surge 200-300 RPM at random and then return after 5-10 seconds at 3200 RPM. This seemed to occur at least once per minute. Surge was smooth and the engine seemed to by running fine otherwise. Total trip was maybe 4 miles. Couldn't really tell if this was occuring at idle.

Also, I hadn't ever really felt my water hoses prior to changing the impeller. Reported water temp was ~170 with a 140 thermostat and consistent with past temps. Hotest hose was the big hose from the termostat housing to the crankcase water pump. No so hot that you couldn't keep a hand on it - but pretty warm. The other three - outdrive to housing, and housing to manifolds were all about the same and noticably cooler than the big hose. Is this normal?

Thanks,
vzett
