Merc 400

What is the difference between Merc 400 and 402?(1971) I bought a Merc service manual on Ebay which lists 402 but not 400.

Merc 400 was the 40hp (4cyl) up to 1970. The Merc 400 (2cyl) was the 40hp from 1970 to 1971. The Merc 402 was the 40hp (2cyl) from 1972.

Thank you. Will info in the service manual for the for the 402 be pretty much the same as for the 400?

The 400 uses a completely differant ign. system
