I have a Mercury 402 40hp outboard. The serial number is 7101989. I bought an old bout for 100 dollars and this motor was part of the deal. The motor is half disassembled at the top end and I am sure parts are missing (the starter for one). I am new to the boat world but am an automotive technician by trade so I think that I could learn my way around with the proper guidence. I do not anything about my motor except what I have listed above.<br /><br />So two questions. What do I need to know about my motor so I can get the proper manuals. Where can I get parts for this motor (I think used would just fine for some of the missing parts li8ke casings and brackets etc.)
