Merc 470 trim pump solenoids

I just replaced the 2 solenoids on my 1980 rinkerbuilt Mercruiser 470 trim pump with 2 new solenoids from autozone,my problem is the boat was running before and now I hooked everything back up and turn the key and get nothing....not a gauge moves ,absolutely nothing.is there something different you have to do when using automotive solenoids on the trim pump?thank you for your help!!!!

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Recheck the motor's battery connections, both (+), 'n (-),....

The trim is independent of the motor, except at the battery,....

As of now I just had the brand new battery tested and it was bad so getting another new one and starting again.thanks for the help!
