merc 5.0 dry run

recently ran merc 5.0 dry for about 30 seconds while pulling out of ramp---was in a hurry with lightning in area--how long can this motor run dry before damage to engine?

Your engine should be fine, but the impeller in your raw water pump is probably toast. They have very little tollerance for running dry.

Yup. A few seconds without water and it'll be a melted ball of rubber.

Actually, It may have been another mod moving the post from some other forum. But I'm not going searching for it.
