Hi,

I'm having an issue with my 1998 Mercruiser 5.0. It's getting hung up on one point of the rotation. It wrecked my starter motor so I pulled the starter out and rotated the motor by hand.(Breaker bar) I can rotate the motor counter clockwise fine doing a full rotation but when I want to rotate it clockwise it rotates fine and gets hung up on the same spot everytime. It will not budge even if I put alot of pressure onto it. Any ideas?

It's just weird it was cranking perfectly fine 3 weeks ago and now it's having issues.

I would quit forcing it. Pull the plugs and make sure youre not hydrolocked. Pull the valve covers to make sure you dont have a stuck valve

I never forced it hard. I was being careful. I'll pull the plugs and valve covers and see. Thanks

Ayuh,.... If ya haven't done so yet,.... Pull the drive,....

That way you'll know whether it's the motor, or the drive, that has a problem,....

I pulled the leg off and the engine rotates freely now. So it's def something in the leg.
