Hey guys, getting ready to swap out my cracked 5.0 to a 5.7. I have a few open questions I was looking for insight on.

- Existing is 2000 5.0 VORTEC w/Alpha 1, gen2 and a J1223 TBI.
- Any known issues in swapping this to a 5.7? Any recommendations or insight in doing so? I've never done one, but plenty of auto and mechanical background
- Is the 2BBL big enough for the 5.7? Will it run a stroker if I go that route? (Yes, I know I'd be pushing the Alpha)
- Was planning on going ATK primarily because of cost and availability, anyone used them? Pros/Cons?
- Planning on ~15-18 hours?
- Any general tips/tricks on alignment? I've read horror stories and others that make it seem very simple.

Thanks in advance! Happy boating!

welcome aboard

since you have TBI, you will need your ECM re-flashed to run a larger motor

or ditch the electric carburetor and go with a carb, or update to MPI

the largest 2 barrel carb they make is 500 CFM
the TBI will limit you on CFM and would not support a healthy 6.2 stroker anyway.

if you build a stroker and you have the alpha, use a rev-limiter. also, you would want to build a mild stroker. however I know of a few pushing 400hp plus thru alpha drives.

I would probably ditch the TBI and go to a 4 barrel carb.

How big and heavy is the boat? Much of this conversation should be based on what you want to accomplish and whether it is useful added torque balanced with how careful you have to be with the Alpha gear box.
