I have a merc outboard s.n. 06486332 that turns over fine but no spark
like to know were the neutral sw. is located
is it on motor near linkage or on controls

The neutral switch is in the control. It has nothing to do with spark, it doesn't allow the starter solenoid to energize if the control is in gear.

that does away with one idea I had
I found broken wire from trigger coil
to switch box , wirring out of trigger
looked brittle
do you think trigger is bad

Here's he test for the ign. from CDI those older enginers are having trouble with the wire insulation falling off but many people repair them.

If you found one crumbling wire, check all the wires. Fix them and then follow the CDI test Laddies posted. Those harnesses start to fall apart after a while.
