Merc 500E 1978?

I have a blue band Merc 500E with a serial number of 4965150. If I am reading things correctly, that is a 1978?<br /><br />And of course, I guess that is not really a 50 HP but a 40 HP due to horsepower ratings change?<br /><br /><br />Thanks!

You still call it a 50 even though they re rated the horsepower.
