I have a 16' K&C runabout, when i bought it used last year it came with a 40HP Merc 2-stroke with a 13P prop. It would do about 4500 - 5000 RPM and 38km/h. This engine packed it in and I was on the outlook for something bigger as it was underpowered. I bought a 2004 Merc 60HP 4-stroke same prop 13P (as it didnt come with a prop). The engine idles fine and starts out of the hole decent but RPM are only going up to 3800 and top speed 25km/h (thats only 16mi/h).
If i could i would try a smaller prop but i dont have one around, and according to what i've been reading 1" difference only makes about 200rpm so if i wanted to get to 5800 i need to, well its not possible. So what else could it be that it does not reach WOT? Throttle seems to be adjusted properly.
maybe also need to mention that i use the same remote control and harness that i used for the 40 2stroke.
