I have a '72 Bomber with a 650 merc. It sat since December. I tried to run it yesterday and had trouble. It cranked right up and I fast idled it to warm up. It wouldn't idle(but it never eally did). the problem is once I start to go it bogs down and misses really bad then dies. This is the same boat I got 4 years ago that sat for two. I brought it home and it cranked right up and ran fine, after 2 years. I plan on checking plugs and trying fresh gas with seafoam in it. Anyone had any luck clearing up carbs with it?

It sounds like you did not run the fuel out of the carbs and they varnished up, if thats the case get some fuel injecter/carb cleaner put it in the fuel, about twice as much as is recommended ( if you have a large tank mix some in a smaaler portable tank of some kind) run it for about 1/2 hr. let it set a while (over nite if possable) then try to run the engine ,if that don't work clean the carbs---Bob

Thanks for the reply. I've had the Bomber and an'80 Glasstream runabout with a '88 rude fo alost 5 years. I got the Bomber for $400 and have had to replace the steering and throttle cables. other than that just plugs and fluids. The Glasstream had a new floor put in it. I paid $1500 for it. Again all I have done is plugs and fluid. I was lucky with these two but I guess its time for some work.
