Merc 800 No Power at WOT

'71/'72? Merc 800, S#2559314,<br />I have rebuilt the engine, cleaned carbs, check all electrical and replaced what was bad, new spark plugs/wires. When running out of gear it seems powerful; in gear, RPM maxes at 2000, very sluggish. Seems that the engine is not drawing in fuel at wide open throttle. It had this same problem last year before I rebuilt it.

According to marineparts.com, your motor could be a '69. http://www.marineparts.com/partspages/techhelp/TECH15.HTM. My sn. is 2990036 and is a '71.<br /><br />Do you have a manual with a troubleshooting guide?<br /><br />chuck

My manual is by Clymer, it is includes several years of motors and several different types, but not mine, I don't have the manual available right now but I think it covers 72-89, and if my engine is a '69, that would explain why it is not in the manual.
