Merc 850 cable lock mechanism -

I have a merc 850 that i'm trying to bring back to life over the winter, and i think I broke the locking mechanism that retains the throttle and shift cables.. I know, smooth move.

Does anyone know where i might find a replacement? Are they pretty standard across mercs? I'm going to be extremely upset if this tanks my project

I'm including a picture of what i'm talking about for clarity's sake. And yes, the carbs are off.

Mercury makes a lever kit for those. PN 87609A1, runs about $20.

That's great! This was one of those "hey why is this thing so tough to open up? snap!" moments.. Followed by much cursing.

Jeff, Those were common across many mercs from the early 70s to the late 80s at least. You should be able to find a used one easily.
