hello. i have a merc 850 85 hp with a serial number starting with 706 i think. I have had a lot of problems with this motor. It idles great and runs at wot great but shifting into gear and accellerating is near impossible without the motor stalling. here are some of the problems that i have:
*engine stalls when i put it in gear
*engine sometimes will only run at half throttle
*i have to throttle up very slow or it will stall

The last time i went on the water i got stranded so i was forced to "play " with the idle and spark advancement screws to get it to go into gear with out stalling. i ordered new carb kits. replaced all the fuel lines and tomorrow i will redoo all the wiring and clean all the connections. I ordered a manual for the motor but they sent me one for a mariner. I have no clue how i am susposed to time the motor, adjust the spark advance and adjust the carbs. can anyone help me with this? Also am i on the right track on trying to get this problem fixed. THanky you
