Hey guys, back again with new trouble . About 3 months ago I rebuilt the carbs and all seemed to be well. Idle was good, and I could WOT the motor with no bogging. The motor sat for a couple months while I worked on the rest of my boat. Now that the boat is ready for water I am unable to get the motor past 4000 without it dying..... Idles fine. Could the carbs have gummed up that quickly? Do I need to rebuild them AGAIN?

Unrelated to that problem, I am having what I believe to be a "Lean Pop" on my other Merc 90. Fortunately that is the only problem with that motor.

Anyone know how to resolve either issue? Advice it GREATLY appreciated.

yeah it is possible for it to get gummed up if it sat even for just a couple months you shouldn't need to rebuild them again just clean them out you could always try putting some Sea Foam in it I have heard good things about that but never really tried it but its supposed to clean carb jet and all kinds of other stuff. sure would be a lot easier than tearing your carbs apart I have seen it at parts stores but never tried it but some people swear by it and use it in everything.

Thanks for the tip Jake. :) I had already torn them apart and thoroughly cleaned them by the time I read your reply. I'll keep that tip in mind for the next time my carbs arent working proper. For now though they are back to normal. Just needed a good cleaning.
