merc alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive lower unit

Having an issue with the outdrive. Goes into gear fine, "idled" out of the no wake zone fine, when additional throttle was applied the motor responded but the out drive did not.

The motor rev'd and the boat didn't increase speed.

Boat ran fine last weekend, but was drug in a little mud.

Trying to get an idea on where to start the diagnosis process.

Drive serial number in my sig.

yeah thats what i was afraid of...

prop hub and coupler are 2 complete different levels of repair.

If the coupler was shot, the drive wouldn't turn at all... right?

a shot prop hub, could allow a little forward movement, right?

bump... need a little direction for diagnosis.

Or is it just tear into the lower unit for visual inspection?

Mark the inner hub and outer hub of the prop and take it for a test run... If the marks move (relative to each other) then you likely have a spun hub...

prop hub was the issue...
relatively simple fix.
