I'm in a new house with a new driveway as of last year. At the beginning of last summer, I was driving the boat out of the garage and the front of the outdrive "bullet" scraped the driveway. It seemed minor at the time and I could barely feel it with my finger. It seemed like it only took some paint and maybe a hair of metal. We ran it as normal with a full load of people all of last year. I decided, while changing the impeller, to sand it down to remove the ridges and reduce the likelyhood of stress cracks. I only lightly sanded until the lowest of the scrapes were gone. Now I can feel the flat spot as I run my hand over the round area. I thought that this area might be quit thick and that the missing material wouldn't amount to anything but looking at the manual says that it's not any thicker than any other part of the casting. Edge to edge, this spot is about 3/4 of an inch and is noticeable but not significant when you run your hand over the round surface. I'm worried about this failing under load. I have pictures and will try to upload to get some opinions. Attaching pics might be an issue because I have not posted here in a few years and don't remember how but I will get pics up one way or another to get some input. Thanks for any help.
