I have a Merc Classic 50, 1973, serial #A738353, 45 HP. The water pump is gone & I can not drop the lower leg. I've tried prying. I have everything stripped off the engine. The drive shaft seems to be seized into the crank. Any suggestions??? Please help.

Thanks
Ken

Did you get the hex head bolt out? It is inside that hole on the top of the tailpiece.
They can get hung-up sometimes.Try 'starting it loose". Also, try to rock forward/reverse a few times to see if it will let go.

Sounds like someone greased the top of the shaft last time they replaced the impellar. When you had it upside down did you spray wd40 or kroil done the shaft and let it soak using its own weight to break it free? May need lots and take a couple of days, make sure to have something soft under it so you dont damage anything else.
